Situated at the end of a 4km peninsula jutting out from the south bank of Lake Garda, is one of the lakes most picturesque towns, Sirmione. Regular ferry services operating across the lake make this an easy visit for the day from most of the southern lake towns including Bardolino. Famous for its thermal waters and spas, the town itself is pretty, with plenty of places to eat and drink. However its Scaliger Castle that really draws the crowds. Surrounded by water on three sides, with fantastic views from the top of the tower, its a great place for photos and to view the crowds below. Get here early (this town gets busy) then leave after lunch, so you can squeeze in a stop at the quieter but no less picturesque medieval walled town of Lazise, just south of Bardolino.
